Don't Miss This!!

I was just out blog hopping and came across this really cool kitchen helper. I am always cooking potatoes for something or the other. I par-boil potatoes before I fry them, so I am constantly peeling them. With the prices of potatoes continuously going up and up this idea is wonderful.

Laurie at Double Bugs had this wonderful video on her blog today from YouTube so make sure you visit her and check it out her blog.

Monday

Well, today is Monday again. Why is it that all the kiddos are always so tired on Monday? And me too? The nice thing about it is that the kiddos always take great naps on Mondays. That gives me time to do some blogging. I have read all my Rss feed subscriptions and skimmed through all the blogs I am following, entering some giveaways and responding to an email I received from Sky over at Seeryus Mama telling me that I had won a personalized market tote. I am excited because it will be really handy when I take some kids with me different places and can pack some things to take along. It came from Terri at Memento. You can visit her at her Etsy shop or you can visit her website.
Today has been a pretty boring day. Kiddos have been super and Hubby is out on the roof laying some more shingles. I offered to help but he turned me down. Maybe he just doesn't trust me on the roof. I don't know why, I helped him one day last week lay tar paper. Oh, well that gives me more time with the kiddos. So I am off to see what kind of trouble me and the kiddos can get into.

It's definitely March

Well, I went to see the Grandparents today. They were doing well! Grandpa was still a little upset that they tried to get Grandma ready for bed at 6:30pm the other day. He said that he blew a gasket, and I pity the girls that were working that night.

For those of you who aren't familiar with my Grandparents, they are 89 and 91 and they recently moved into an assisted living facility (which is awesome I must say). They have their own apartment and the facility has a beautiful dining room that they go down to, to eat their meals. The nurses are in charge of all their medications, they have someone that does their laundry, cleans the apartment and of course the Nurses aide's help with my Grandma some. My Grandparents still get out and go to the bank and for "coffee breaks" and for a quick run to Wal-Mart for Cinnamon Rolls.
So, on that note a change into PJ's at 6:30pm is a little too early.

Well I have pictures to update you on my new porch roof and house re-shingle. It is starting to look pretty good. I can't wait until this is finished and we can get it all cleaned up and enjoy the new roof. Later this year we are going to redo the porch bottom so it will all look lots better
.

Here are what my new shingles look like. Notice the blue "toolbox" in the top of the picture....
Well, it's a cooler. They think this is really part of their tools, or a security box. For some reason they don't go anywhere without it full of Bud Light and even while roofing.
I call these guys "the 3 asses" and my Hubby.
I haven't yet decided if these two were napping or getting a closer look.
This is my Hubby and a buddy thinkin'. Looks like they are thinking too hard. One is scratching his head and the other seems to be scratching his butt. Go figure.
I will keep you all update on the roof, which is on hold because today is crapping and it's even snowing. Oh, I keep having to telling myself that it is only March.

Aunt Rene what happened to you? You seem to have deserted us here in the blogging community. Where are you, you haven't posted since Wednesday?

Small Talk Six: Baring More Than Your Soul

Small Talk Six is a weekly meme brought to us by Momdot.

Want to join in? Go here to learn how and to view the weekly list Small Talk Six topics for 2009.
Today’s topic is the “6 things you would like to do naked if you lived alone.” You can answer this with a list of 6 words, 6 phrases, 6 sentences, 6 paragraphs, 6 photos, 6 videos, etc . . .It will be interesting to see how each participant interprets this week’s topic.

Well, since I have never lived alone I am not quite sure about exactly that but I can answer it, if it were 6 things I would like to do if you lived with just your spouse.
  1. Go straight from the Shower to the bedroom to get dressed. I don't like getting dressed in the bathroom.
  2. Sleeping. Oh wait, I already do that. That's the most comfortable way to sleep and I would also do it if I lived alone.
  3. Lay on the couch watching TV with my blankie. Yep I am a Bederlack blankie baby:)
  4. Just plain living. That way I don't have to fight those uncomfortable jeans and the sweats are just too hot. And think of how much money we could save not having to buy so many clothes and doing so much laundry.
  5. Walking in front of a mirror regularly. Maybe I would be more motivated to lose weight.
  6. Last but not least.....well I just can't think of something.....so I will go with: cleaning. I'm not sure why but what else could I choose?

Ultimate Blog Party '09

Don't forget to check out my new posts at the bottom of this sticky post.

Well 5 Minutes for Mom is hosting a blog party and everyone is invited.
This is a blog party to meet new friends and will be going on the week of March 20th to 27th. This is a virtual party for meeting new friends and also winning some prizes.
You can go here for the instructions and then go here to check out the parting crowd. You can visit here to see the prize page. Some of the bloggers are giving away door prizes so make sure you leave a comment when you visit their sites.
Have fun making friends and trying to win prizes.

So, with that said......lt me introduce myself.

I am 29+ (or 29 with experience) mother of one beautiful daughter who just turned 20. I have been married to my High School Sweetheart for almost 21 years. We have two dogs, one is a 7 year old Lab-Newfoundland mix, named Shadow, who weighs in at 140 pounds and is diabetic. Yes the dog is on insulin. He takes 36 units twice per day. Our other dog is almost 1, she is a Cocker Spaniel, named Sophie, and is a spoiled baby. I have never seen such a spoiled dog before. We also have a 7 year old cat named Punkin who weighs in at about 16 pounds. Yes all our animals are huge. In our house we also have our daughters Cocker Spaniel, Motely and her cat named Milo. Milo and Punkin are brothers from the same litter. You can see all their pics under ~Favorites~ on the menu bar.

I am a County Certified Childcare Provider. I have been providing Childcare since 1992 and I enjoy almost every moment of it. Children are so underestimated. They are a ball full of information and they are always yearning to learn more. I keep kids Monday thru Saturday from 3:45am or 6:45am to either 10pm or 11pm.

My Hubby is a Jack of all Trades. Right now he is unemployed as a Semi Driver. Everyone has been keeping him busy fixing their cars or remodeling kitchens and building a roof over our porch and re-roofing the whole house. In the past 2 1/2 months he has probably worked on 10 cars, 2 kitchens and our roof.

I have not been blogging long but I love doing it and intend to keep doing it. I have met a lot of interesting people and I am going to have fun meeting more people during the Ultimate Blog Party '09

Oh my goodness, I almost forgot about the prizes. Wow so many but here are the ones that I would love to have: 58, 67, 19, 21, 22, 26, 50, 58, 88, 89, 91, 99, 113, 118, 123, 72, USC 30, USC 39, and of course all the rest of them!! :)

Aloha Friday #1

Welcome to my first addition of Aloha Friday. Aloha Friday comes to us from the blog "An Island Life".

In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that they take it easy and look forward to the weekend.
So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. I will ask you a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response. If you’d like to participate, just post your own question on your blog and leave your link on Mr Linky at "An Island Life".Don’t forget to visit the other participants!

It’s a great way to make new bloggy friends!

So here is my 1st Aloha Friday question:

What is the most important thing you are looking for in a Childcare Provider?

Soggy Thursday

Well, we picked up our shingles last night. Listen to me saying we. I guess "we" didn't pick up the shingles, my Hubby and BIL "Wob" went and got them last night. Yeah, we have shingles....Boo, we have rain....and more rain in the forecast, like everyday except two days in the next six day. That is not good, I am getting excited about getting this all done, cleaned up and looking good.
Now, I told you all that I went to the Doctors yesterday but what I didn't tell you was one thing she said to me. I am kinda stuck on this, which I am sure any woman would be.
She says to me "Do you realize that you have gained 11 pounds since you were in here in December?"
I said "Not really, but thanks for that little piece of information that I could have done without."
She comes back with a "Are you eating healthy?"
Anyone who knows me, knows that sometimes I can't just answer the question, so I come back with a "Doesn't look like it does it?"
That was the end of that conversation. Thank Goodness. I have been having issues with that ever since. I didn't take that too well. I guess that was her polite way of say "You need to quit feeding your fat *ss and get up and do something with yourself." So now you know what kind of mood I have been in ever since that doctor visit. I am not so sure I like her very well right now.

Oh almost forgot to tell you something. Nothing can go smoothly for us. My Hubby is sitting in the living room today yelling at our cat Milo for scratching on something in the corner behind my recliner. I look and it seems that he is just getting toys out of his toy basket. Well, later I come in and sit down and I hear the scratching and look back and he, Milo, is asleep. I guess that wasn't him scratching.........somethings in the wall. No one want to go outside to see what is in the wall. There is one spot that Hubby has not got covered yet from where the cut the soffit off the house for the porch roof and of course something had to find that spot. Finally the man goes out with a flashlight and mirror and says he is going out to see what can scare the sh*t out of him. Finally he figures out that it is a little bird stuck at the bottom between the inside wall and outside sheeting of the house....yes, we have no insulation in the walls...nice.
"How do we get it out?" he asks me. What do I look like the bird catcher? Well being the Hillbillies that we are, he goes to the closet and gets some strapping. And no, not the kind you would use for people, the kind you use to repair lawn chairs (that itchy stuff that no one likes to sit on). Anyway he drapes it down into the wall hoping the little birdie will climb out. It took him four or five tries and it would get half way up and fall back down but I haven't heard him in a while so it either got out or fell and died. I hoping for that he got out.
That reminds me of the owl that once got into our basement...funny story!!

Have you ever sat and wondered what goes thru some peoples minds? Well today I had the opportunity to do just that. I get a phone call today and it goes something like this......."Dose anyone in your family suffer from seizures or bipolar disorder?".....Well that's some question to throw at someone. I can't just answer the question without asking why. After asking why, I wished I hadn't. I found out that my nephew went to a Neurologist today for some symptoms that the Dr. feels are related to these disorders and now need some family history and further testing. He was in a car accident about three years ago and his mother thinks this all goes back to then. He was is a Ford Ranger in the jumpseat and someone pulled out in front of them and he flew from the back seat to the front and hit his head on the windshield. He has had trouble sleeping and such ever since then. One thing is, is that its sad that it has come to him being away at college in another state for him to be taken to the Dr. about it. His coach, trainers and team Doctors must be some really great guys to help him with all this. Let's just hope for the best with all of that.

My porch roof is coming along great. The shingles should be in tomorrow, so lets all hope that the rain passes us by so we can get the re shingling of the house accomplished. My amazing Hubby and R.C. worked on capping the wood on the porch today and putting up the soffit. Oh and J.C. came over from Marion to help also. It is looking mighty nice I must say. I am getting more and more excited all the time. I think this weekend R.C. and his dad are coming over to help with the shingling. I think that K.S. will be here also.

I have found something my all my daycare kids absolutely love and I never bought because I thought they sounded totally dumb. Well, the other day while I was shopping at my favorite store, the Amish "Bent and Dent Groceries", I came across some Cereal Straws. What kind of name is that? Cereal Straws? Well I got them for $1.00 per box so I bought three boxes and all I have to say is WOW. You get like 24 in a box and the kids love them and now ask for them all the time. And I have to say, they aren't half bad. We had the Cocoa Krispies and Apple Jacks Cereal Straws. I advise those of you who have thought, like I did, they were dumb must try them. They are good.

Well I went and visited my favorite place today. Well actually I am joking, it's not a favorite place at all. I went to see my Doctor about my feet, knee, back and basically all my joints. She ordered x-rays of my back and referred me to a Rheumatologist. Yippee Skippie. Besides the FibroMialgia she thinks I may have rheumatoid arthritis. Once again yippee Skippie. All I know is that I want to stop hurting.

Also took my Shadow dog to the vet today for a checkup and have his glucose tested. He weighed in at 145.6 and his sugar was 343! We can't seem to get it to stay down for anything. Poor dog I feel sorry for him. I wish there was a way that I could check his sugar daily and adjust it accordingly. The only way I found was to stick him in the inside of his upper lip and I am not too sure about doing that. My luck it would hurt him and he would react and accidentally bite me and my whole hand can fit in his mouth so he would probably bite it off. That would suck.

Well enough of my problems, I am off to relax and enjoy a night off.

What a Sunday!!

Well it seems like it took me all day to introduce myself. I started it this morning and just finished it about 7:15pm. Oh, I have had a busy, busy day. Feeling super crappy with a stuffed up head and nose but I was called to the roof to help the Hubby. Yes, I on the roof for about 5 hours and I can now honestly say that I am not a construction worker nor due I want to be. But anyway, we got the valleys cut and tar papered and half the porch roof tar papered and some drip edge on. My body is calling me an idiot and my mind is calling me the same. Now not only can I not move but I still cannot breathe through my nose. Luckily I am not coughing because that would be terrible.

I stopped over to see the Grandparents at the Assisted Living place and they were eating dinner, which looked very good. They were having coleslaw, baked potato, creamed peas and BBQ spare ribs. And of course juice and coffee. It looked really yummy. I didn't stay long because I didn't want to give them my germs and I am just plain pooped. I did drop off them an Easter wreath that I made them. My Grandma just loved it. She likes bright colors so it fits her wonderful.

I promise that tomorrow I will get to the Ultimate Blog Party '09 if it kills me. I guess I should say that if I am still alive tomorrow. After today who knows.

I am missing the Ultimate Blog Party '09 :(

I haven't posted in a couple days...not been feeling to well. My head is going to explode and my nose is all stuffed up and I cannot breathe and every muscle and joint in my body hurts. I have also decided that Walmart's brand of Advil Cold and Sinus just plain SUCKS!!! Next time I will stick with Sudafed or the real Advil stuff, no more generic.

I have been missing out on all the Ultimate Blog Party '09 that 5 Minutes for Mom is putting on.. But, later today if I am feeling better I am going to try to participate in some of them. I have been looking forward to this for a while but feeling crappy makes me uninterested and that makes me sad:( So make sure you go here and check it out and have fun. I will be going over there later and getting in on the fun.

Terrific Thursday

Well, today was a great day....for a change. I got up at 6:15am to get ready for the kiddos to arrive and I already had a text message from their mommy saying that she was not coming because one of the girls was running a fever. Yeah for me, bad for the poor little girl. Then my darling little "Syd" (S.S.) showed up and then my little man "A" (A.H.) got here about an hour later and his mommy said that she was picking him at 3pm instead of 6pm and that I would not have to get his big sister off the bus. Then I got another text from another mommy saying that she was not going to work today because she had a migraine and one of her boys was running a fever. Again yeah for me, bad for them. That's four less kids today and three less buses to catch. YEAH!! Then my little man "B" (B.H.) finally arrived. We, well I now call him Chucky because he reminds me of Chucky from the Rugrats.
So, I did the Mother Goose with "Syd", "A" and "B". We learned about sheep and their wool. We made a lamb out of two clothes pins, tongue depressor and batting. We painted the clothes pins and tongue depressor white then we glued and clipped the clothes pins to the tongue depressor for legs then glued batting around it for the wool. Oh, and we glued eyes on it. It was just too cute. It stood up all by itself. The kids loved it. Then they got to design their own bugs. I cut out a bug body shape and they glued it to a piece of construction paper and then they had to add everything else. They turned out really cute also.
Then during nap time I went with my Aunt G and stopped by my MIL's house and picked up my stuff that my SIL got for me from Sam's Club. Thanks Rene!! Then we went to the "Bent and Dent" and found lots of good deals. But sadly I got addicted to Schwebels Multi grain bread and they didn't have any. I was so sad for that but happy to get lots of stuff for $45. I got three banana boxes full of canned and boxed goods. Yeah!! I love it when I can get Frosted Flakes for $1.60.
Well my daughter is home with Subs from the family pizza shop in piratesville, so I am outta here.

Busy Busy Monday.

Today was a busy day again! I had 6 kiddos all day then 4 more after school till 6:00pm with 2 here until 10pm. We did our Mother Goose Time which included painting frogs out of paper sandwich boxes. Then they made a pond out of construction paper and they glued yellow ducks made of construction paper on them and they drew all the other animals that live in a pond. They were really cute and they really enjoyed that today.
We had a short nap time because of my hubby and one of my daycare kids' dad were working on my new porch roof. At the end of day one we have tresses already. I am so excited!! I cannot wait! I can sit outside this summer when it is raining. I will have pictures at the end of this of our porch project.
After snack we were headed outside but two of the kiddos did not have shoes. Imagine that NO shoes. Sometimes parents amaze me. But I let the rest of the kids go out and when those kids left I went outside with them all. Somehow I ended up with a "crappy" job of pooper scooping. Wow dogs really crap a lot over the winter, so much that it is ridiculous.
I am off to relax a little until my kiddos leave.

Are You Wondering What I Am Doing??

Well let me explain....I am trying to do some more customizing on my blog because my sis-in-law gave me the idea of a menu bar. Well I am trying to do just that. So it says that you have to create a post for each item on the menu bar, so I am doing that. If any of you have any suggestions let me know.
I had kids today from 9am to 4:45pm then we took our daughter "R" and her fiance out to dinner at Red Lobster tonight for her birthday. It was sooooo yummy! :) The Ultimate Feast is the best....Crab Legs, Lobster, 2 shrimp scampi (I don't like the Uncle Walt's deep fried shrimp) and baked potato......of course salad and that bread. Yummy Yummy!!
After that we went to Menards to get some stuff to start working on our new porch and reshingle project. I am looking forward to the roof over the porch but I am not looking forward to all the work involved.
