I have been hit, kicked, pinched, clawed and told to Shut-up!!

All by a 2 1/2 year old little boy. Should I say little boy? OMG!! As those of you who follow me know that I do home daycare and have been doing it for now for 17 years. Never have I been treated so bad by a 2 year old. He is such a sweet little man. Until, you tell him not to take toys away from other kids, or if you tell him it's time to pick up toys, or it's time for a nap, or it's time to go inside. First off he yells "Don't tell me that!" and if you tell him again, he yells "Shut-up!!" Oh, needless to say we did about 8 timeouts today. It ranged from me continuously putting him back in the time-out chair over and over and over again. To him kicking me while he was in time-out. When I bent down to talk to him (getting at the child's level) he hit me, clawed at my eye and pinched me.

Let me tell you a little bit about this young man. He is one of three children I started watching today. Their ages are 1, 2, and 3. And, yes all one family. There are eight children total between their parents. I am sure he has learned well from his older siblings. But oh boy, do I seriously have my work cut out for me. Really, they are very nice children and I really do like them but wooo, look out when it's time to clean up or be nice.

Needless to say that I sure could use a huge margarita! Or two! Or three! But that can't happen. I have two kids who went to football practice and they will be back in about 1 1/2 hours. Then two more girls who will be here in about 2 1/2 hours and the girls are here overnight. Good gracies, I hope I make it through this week. If I do, you bet your butt I will be drinking a few of these this weekend.

  1. I feel for you hun! My dd, who is also 2, has picked up many of her meanness from her older brothers. She is definitely in the terribles right now!

  2. By your first 2 lines I thought you were talking about husband, JR and I felt bad for you but if you're letting a 2-1/2 yr. kick your butt, I find that just a little amusing since it's not happening to me and it's not my child. Have fun and good luck!!!

  5. I feel for you as my daughter and I bab sit for about 3 years. We had one that was bad about hitting, kicking, and I don't have to. We never broke him from that. It did help some by not letting him have treats when the others got them if he did not help put things up or anything he was suspose to help with. He got to set in a chair while the other children got treats. This was working but his mother lost her job so at home he got his way. It will not hurt to try this. good luck
