Talk to Me Tuesday: Why Do I Blog?

talk to me tuesday_white

I was over visiting Laurie over at Tip Junkie, and she has a great meme going on that I decided that I would jump in on. Every Tuesday she has a different topic to discuss and today the topic is "Why Do You Blog?"

That is a really good question. Well, I can actually blame this on my SIL Aunt Rene for getting me started. Can I blame her for my addiction? So anyway, I started blogging because I was hearing of all these neat things that my SIL was winning by entering into giveaways and I wanted to win some for myself. Why should I let other people win everything and just sit back and wish that I had won something, is what I was thinking.

Well, blogging has become more than that now. I have not only won some great things but what is even better, is that I have met some really wonderful women out there. Whether they pretend to be my friends or they really are my friends, I enjoy the conversations I have with them and reading about the huge assortments of subjects that you can jump in on.

If you read my blog you will see that I am quite the complainer and whiner. I do sometimes go on rants about subjects, but hey, I am a woman. I love blogging not only because I get to do some venting but I have learned that sometimes I am not the only one out there with some of the same issues. I want to continue to blog about what I want, when I want and how I want. I do not mind doing reviews and giveaways but I really don't want that to be a full time thing on my blog. I love getting to talk about my life experiences, good or bad. It's kinda like therapy sometimes. I do not see me NOT blogging anytime in the near future. I look forward to nap time for the daycare kiddos so that I can get some time on here.

If you want to jump in on this, you can do it here!

I Walked Today For Making Strides Against Breast Cancer

Today was a day that I had been looking forward to for quite a while. I found this walk one day when I was online looking at some different things about Breast Cancer, since October is Breast Cancer awareness month. This has been brought to my attention a lot more because of a recent scare that I had that really woke me up from the fact that sometimes I think, "It will never happen to me." You can read about it here and here if you'd like.

So, my Aunt Judy, SIL "M2", my friend Amy and myself went to Columbus to the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk today, which was a 5K. I am not sure how far a 5K is supposed to be but we walked just a bit over 4 miles to raise money for Breast Cancer Research. It was an absolutely beautiful day and we had a blast. We got there a little too early but none of us had ever been there before so I would have rather been early than late. I am not sure how many people were there but there were tons there, people of all ages too. From tiny babies to grandma's who I didn't think were going to be able to walk that far, men, women and children all out there walking to honor someone who is battling or has lost their lives to breast cancer and raise money for research. I took a few pictures but not many as I have a piece of crap phone battery and it wanted to die after taking like 3 pictures so I stopped taking them.

This is the start finish line.

Some of the tents before everyone started arriving.

My Aunt Judy and SIL "M2"

This is my friend Amy

Ok, this is me and NO, I did not fall. They had a tent to stress being active and they had some dice you had to roll and you had to do what activity and number your dice landed on. I was unlucky enough to get a roll of doing the bicycle 2 times. Yippie!! So here I am laying in the middle of everything doing the bicycle. Everyone else's were things like jumping on one foot, or doing push-up against the table, or touching your toes. I, get to lay my big butt in front of everyone and look like a fool. People were clapping, probably because I managed to get up all by myself. lol

Funny story for those of you who know me: I am a clutz of sort. I have only had two broken bones (my pinkie toe and my foot last summer) and a couple ankle sprains, but everyone calls me a clutz. So, my lovely friend Amy sends the last picture, the one of me on the ground, to my Hubby and tells him that we are on our way to the ER. He believes her!! He asks her if I am okay, and how the hell I fell. After we are all laughing so hard that we are crying she decides that she better text him back and tell him that she was joking. She was afraid that he was getting ready to come to the ER, which he would not have done unless I was seriously injured. He replies to her that it would not have surprised him that I fell, but it did surprise him that she got such a good shot of me falling. Nice, huh? Well, she doesn't let it end there. After we were all finished and waiting around for the raffle drawing, her hubby texts her and asks if we have walked a mile yet? So, she sent him the picture and told him that we were at the ER. He replies to her, "Is she okay?" Geez, you would think that I am always getting hurt or something. So, I rolled my ankle on the edge of the pavement and broke my foot last summer, now they think I just flat can't walk. Well, the good news is that NONE of us fell or got injured in any way. We are all just sore from walking, except for my SIL "M2" because she walks everyday.

Anyway, you should all get your friends and family together and make a team and join in on the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer and find a walk near you. Like I said, we had a blast. It was some adult time with adult conversations with exercise and we did a good deed by raising a little money for the cause. We have all decided that we are going to do it again next year, get more people involved with us and we are getting team shirts. It only took us a little over an hour to walk so all together with the drive included we would have only used about 3 1/2 hours of the day, but we took advantage of the adult time and stopped at Max & Erma's for some Tortilla soup, which is fabulous by the way, and we got there about an hour too early. We actually spent 7 hours in all.

Make sure you do you monthly self exam and get those mammograms!!

Bitch and Moan 10/24

Fairy Blog Mother

My oven quit working 2 weeks ago tomorrow. Has it been looked at? NO! Is he planning on looking at it? Who knows! I guess he will when he wants something baked in it.

The Daycare kiddos parents
were all late picking up their kids today and I finally had plans to to something. I had plans to play cards with the Aunties.

The IDIOT who hit my daughter's cars insurance company totally made me blow a gasket today because they said we could not get any repairs done to our car before they came and did an estimate on it or they would not pay for any work already completed. Did they offer a rental car? NO! So what are we supposed to do for her a car until they get off their butts? So are they paying for the repairs to our Durango or not? They won't know till they see it. WTF??

One of the Daycare kiddos brothers has H1N1? I certainly hope that no one else gets it. I am already sick and don't have time for it.

My Sinus Infection has now taken up residence in my chest and I am NOT liking it! I have a Making Strides for Breast Cancer walk on Sunday and I really want to do it!! As a matter of fact I am doing it sick or not! I may end up more sick but it's all about the cause.

Wordless Wednesday: Grrr!!

This is what happens when someone turns left in front of your daughter. That would be $3660 damage. GRR!! Since everyone keeps asking if my daughter is okay I will go on into some details. We know the girl who turned left in front of her, and right after the accident both girls were in agreement with what happened so they let the only witness that stopped go without getting her information (Life Lesson Learned). After the girls boyfriend, mother and soon to be step-dad-excop-excon-convicted sex offender gets there, her story changes, making it a she said/she said accident. Needless to say no one was sighted, why I have NO clue because she turned LEFT in front of our daughter. The girl is now saying that my daughter went through the red light, that means that the girl went through the red light also. The light happened to have turned yellow just as my daughter was going under it and she TURNED LEFT!! Imagine that!

Anyway, no one was really hurt. My daughter had a pretty nasty seat-belt bruise and a pretty pissed off attitude for getting screwed in this whole ordeal. You see both girls only have liability insurance on their cars.

LIFE LESSON ~ NEVER completely trust someone whom you don't truly know. You see, this girl happens to be my brothers wife's niece. Yep, her mom is my brothers SIL! I used to babysit for this girl when she was little! I have know her, her mom and whole family for about 25 years.

Who were those 2 little boys at my house today?

All of you who follow me know that I am losing my mind of the family of 3 that I do daycare for. Well, today was a great day! And guess what they were all 3 here today (plus the other 3 kiddos), and all day, 6:30am to 5:00pm. The little sprout that is usually the worst one was the best of the two boys. They ONLY thing that happened today was the bigger of the two sprouts, who is 3 1/2 walked over and ejected the CD while Miss "S" was on the computer playing My Disney Kitchen. And of course that did not make her very happy but it was nothing major.

I was very pleased with today. If everyday were to be like today, I would be flying high! I am so proud of those two boys being so good! I made sure that I let them know that and I awarded them with stickers and hugs and kisses. I also told their Daddy how good they were when he picked them up and he was very proud of them also. Whew, lets home that tomorrow is just as good. Process....what a wonderful thing.
