POM Wonderful: 100% Pomegranate Juice Review

I was recently contacted to do a review of POM Wonderful 100% Pomegranate Juice, which I was really excited to do because I love pomegranates. They are just so crisp and juicy. I received 6-12 ounce bottles to try out, which I shared with a couple of my daycare kiddos to get their opinions. I am not much of a juice drinker but since I love pomegranates I thought I would give it a whirl.

First off, I have to admit that when I received this, it was shipped with cold packs and I thought that was pretty cool. I know, I am a simple Simon. Second off, I love the shapes of their little bottles. They are just so cute, the daycare kiddos loved them.

Now on to what I thought about the juice. I have to admit that I liked it. It is a sorta dry kind of juice, but it was good and flavorful. Unfortunately like I said, I am not a juice drinker. Now, like I said, I gave some to my daycare kiddos and here is what they had to say:

LS (age 9) ~ As I am pouring it, he says "What is this?" I told him "It's juice." and he comes back with "A medicine kind of juice?" Of course I told him "No, it's not medicine. Taste it then I will tell you what it is." After he tastes it he say "Yum, this is good." And downed the whole bottle.

JW (age 12) ~ He watches as I pour it into a glass and listens to the conversation I am having with his brother and after he tastes it he says, "Wow, this is pretty good stuff. What is it?"

SS (age 5) ~ I gave her some on a different day and as I am pouring her some in a glass she says "Is that medicine?" What is up with the medicine thing? lol She drank about 1/3 of the bottle and says "Hummm, I don't know if I like it. It tastes like medicine." She must have had medicine on the brain.

Now on to some information about POM Wonderful 100% Pomegranate Juice:

Read the Label

Here are several popular pomegranate juices. You’d be justified believing these all contain high levels of pomegranate juice based on the packaging. That’s wrong – except for POM Wonderful. The other juice companies – and many others – deceive most consumers because they believe you won’t read the ingredients list to learn what’s really in that juice.

When POM says “Pomegranate,” we really mean it. In addition to our 100% pomegranate juice, we offer four pomegranate juice blends, all of which feature pomegranate juice as the first ingredient. With POM, you’ll never find “pomegranate juice” buried in the middle or at the end of a long ingredient list.

Other companies load their product with highly processed filler juices like white grape, apple and pear, which are little better than sugar water when it comes to antioxidant benefits.

Read these closely and you decide who is telling you the truth and who isn’t.

100% Authentic

POM is the only brand that can guarantee 100% authentic pomegranate juice because we are the only brand to grow, juice and bottle our own fruit. There are no middlemen.

At POM Wonderful, pomegranates are our only business. We grow them, pick them and juice them ourselves. We believe in the goodness and the amazing health benefits of Wonderful variety pomegranates, and we promise 100% authentic pomegranate juice in every bottle we ship.

Not every brand is as honest as POM Wonderful. Three independent labs tested ten other brands claiming to have 100% pomegranate juice and found that nine out of ten so-called pomegranate juices had added sugar, colorants and other low-grade fruit juices. So, other juices may be less expensive than ours, but you get what you pay for.

Pomegranates are the heart and soul of our company. For the superior antioxidant health benefits and genuine pomegranate juice taste, there’s only one choice – POM Wonderful 100% Pomegranate Juice.

Tree to Bottle

POM is the only pomegranate juice that controls its juice from tree to bottle: bottle-to-bottle, batch-to-batch, year-to-year.

We grow and hand-pick our own fruit. And we squeeze our pomegranates using proprietary pressing equipment that we designed ourselves. This stringent quality control process results in 100% pomegranate juice with superior taste and a consistent dose of polyphenol antioxidants.

Unlike other brands, we don’t buy juice from outside vendors, domestic or import. In fact, when we ran short of our own juice in 2006, we simply shipped fewer bottles of juice. We would rather make less money than destroy the integrity of POM Wonderful 100% Pomegranate Juice that our consumers have come to trust.

From our orchards to your home – enjoy in good health!

POM, Persimmon and Pecan Salad

Ingredients

Salad

  • 1 cup arils from 1-2 large POM Wonderful Pomegranates
  • 8 cups baby romaine lettuce
  • 1/2 cup thinly sliced green onion
  • 2 ripe persimmons, peeled and cut into thin wedges
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped pecans

Dressing
  • juice from 1 large POM Wonderful Pomegranate,* or 2 tablespoons POM Wonderful 100% Pomegranate Juice
  • 2 tablespoons white wine vinegar

Dressing
  • 1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • salt and pepper to taste

Preparation

  • Score 1-2 fresh pomegranates and place in a bowl of water. Break open the pomegranate underwater to free the arils (seed sacs). The arils will sink to the bottom of the bowl and the membrane will float to the top. Sieve and put the arils in a separate bowl. Reserve 1 cup of the arils from fruit and set aside. (Refrigerate or freeze remaining arils for another use.)Use any collected juices for the dressing or press 1/4 cup arils through a strainer to collect 2 tablespoons of juice.
  • In a large bowl, combine baby romaine lettuce, arils, green onion, ripe persimmons and pecans
  • Mix all the dressing ingredients together and toss into the salad.
  • Serve immediately.

I tried this salad, minus the persimmons and I used a bag of Mixed Greens instead of only just romaine lettuce. It was very tasty. I love a good flavorful salad.
