Pork Be Inspired Gets Two Thumbs Up At My House!!

Have I said lately how much I love being a BzzAgent and sharing my thoughts about products with all my readers? Well in case you have missed it, I love it! I love trying the products that they permit me to apart of the campaigns of. And I love sharing my thoughts on said products. I share my thoughts with you readers, my friends and my family, and trust me I share the positive and negative thoughts both. Not all my reviews have been positive.

Now, on to this Kroger, Pork Be Inspired campaign. This is a very positive review. My thoughts are positive on this one on all aspects! My hubby is not much of a pork eater (he says it is like chicken and he does not care for that either). Any how, I used my coupon for $5.00 off from the campaign to get some thin center cut pork chops to fix for dinner last night, which is one of my favorite cuts of pork besides BBQ ribs and they didn't have any of those or course. Then I went through some recipes from Pork Be inspired on Pinterest and chose to fix two different kinds of chops. I chose the Americas Favorite Pork Chops (right) and the Paprika Pork Chops (left).

I have to admit that I loved the Paprika pork chops and my husband liked them both but he preferred the American's Favorite Pork Chop better. You can find the recipes to both of these pork chops by clicking on the recipe titles above my picture.

And just a little knowledge for you all:

Don't overcook your pork!

Both the USDA and the National Pork Board recommend using a digital cooking thermometer to get an accurate internal temperature reading for your pork. While 145° F (with a three-minute rest time) is where you want to be for chops, tenderloin and roasts, ground pork should always be cooked to 160° F and pre-cooked ham can be reheated to 140° F.

November is National Family Caregivers Month

November is National Family Caregivers Month

Taking care of a loved one starts with taking care of yourself.
More than 65 million Americans are currently providing care for a loved one. ¹ But, sometimes caregivers neglect an important step: taking care of themselves. Protecting the caregiver's own well being, both mentally and physically, is an incredibly important step in the caring process. So in honor of National Family Caregivers and National Hospice Month, UnitedHealthcare has some steps to help make the transition to caregiver.

Get out and enjoy time together:
Go for a walk. Go to a movie. Feed the ducks at a park. Keeping active may relieve stress and can create positive new memories.
Eat Healthy:
A healthy diet can keep you sharp. Stock up on healthy snacks and prepare your own meals. Here are some simple (and delicious) recipes for you and your loved one.

PERDUE OVEN READY Is What's For Dinner Tonight!

Perdue Oven Ready Roasters

PERDUE® OVEN READY Products

I have never had any of the PERDUE® OVEN READY Products before I had the opportunity to receive a coupon for one during the PERDUE campaign by being a *BzzAgent. I went with the Whole Seasoned Chicken Roaster, how much easier could it be than to just take off the outer bag, cut a small slit in the inner bag over the breast and pop it in the oven? It is already seasoned and ready to go.

Now, we are not usually huge chicken eaters unless it boneless chicken breasts and is cut up and put into something so this is something new for us. I have done a beer can chicken or two a few years ago when we were camping but a couple bites and I am done. That is how big of a chicken eater I am and dear hubby usually skips by it to a burger.

Now, this is all I am writing for now. I will write more of this post after I bake this Chicken and have dinner and see how it is.

Well, baking that chicken was as easy as the directions said it would be. I took off the first bag, cut a slit in the second bag and put it in a casserole dish and put it in a 400 degree oven for 1 hour and 45 minutes and I did the thermometer check to make sure it was 180 degrees and it was. It came out of the oven looking and smelling delicious.

I do have to say that here is a hint, drain the drippings from maybe a corner of the bag before you start opening it. I had to drain my glass dish after I opened the bag and then put my chicken back in the dish. I also learned that where ever the bag was touching the chicken, that is where the chicken browned much better......but is is also where it stuck to the bag. So maybe if I would have moved the bag around a little during the 10 minute wait after taking it out of the oven it would not have stuck to the bag.

I am not a carver, I am a picker so my beautiful chicken looked quite a mess when I finished with it but it all tastes the same, right?? Of course I am not showing you all the mess that I made of that chicken but I am sure you all can imagine what it looked like if you just look at my plate. I am not all about pretty food, I am just all about it tasting good. And I just have to say that it was delicious. And my dear hubby even said that it was really good and went for seconds.. The daycare kiddos loved the chicken and asked for more also.

I went for the a little of dark meat and a little breast both but he is a white meat kinda person and I do have to say that the breast meat had more of the seasoned flavor, which I was completely surprised. The meat was all very tender and juicy and there were plenty of drippings to make gravy with and the directions for making gravy if you don't know how, is right on the back of the original packaging.

Chicken Was For Dinner Tonight!

Campbell's® Healthy Request® Condensed Cream of Chicken Soup

Dinner is not an easy task around our house. I am not much of a beef eater, and my Husband is not much of a pork or chicken eater and he does not eat fish or seafood at all. I grew up with a side of beef in the freezer and it seems that we had one type of beef or another for supper all the time so I could really do without it. Actually I am not a big meat eater at all. I am really not a big chicken eater either so that leaves pork and I love shrimp but seafood is loaded with cholesterol so that leaves that out because I have high cholesterol and I am trying to take care of that by changing my eating habits.

So anyway as I am deciding what I am fixing for dinner my Hubby asks and I tell him that we are having chicken and he says, "Chicken again?" Well, I decided to try something new this time. I noticed a recipe on the back of a can of Campbell's Healthy Request Cream of Chicken soup called Skillet Garlic Chicken.

What You'll Need

1/4 teaspoon ground sage
1/4 teaspoon dried thyme leaves, crushed
1 1/4 pounds skinless, boneless chicken breast halves
Vegetable cooking spray
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 can (10 3/4 ounces) Campbell's® Healthy Request® Condensed Cream of Chicken Soup
1/2 cup water (I used about 3/4 cup)
Parslied Rice

How to Make It

  • 1 Stir the sage and thyme in a small bowl. Season the chicken with the sage mixture.
  • 2 Spray a 12-inch skillet with the cooking spray and heat over medium heat for 1 minute. Add the chicken and cook for 15 minutes or until the chicken is well browned on both sides and cooked through. Remove the chicken from the skillet, cover and keep warm.
  • 3 Add the garlic to the skillet and cook and stir until lightly browned. Stir in the soup and water and cook until the mixture is hot and bubbling. Serve the sauce over the chicken with the Parslied Rice

Now, as to what Hubby and I thought of this meal was exactly the same. We both thought that it needed more garlic but we are both garlic lovers. We both put garlic on a lot of things. We also thought that is need salt and pepper and that the rice didn't have any flavor but what plain rice has flavor? The chicken was very moist and tender and I loved the "gravy" that the soup made, it just needed more garlic. I will be making this again but I will add salt, pepper and more garlic to the pan before adding the soup and water.

The calorie count on this is not bad either. I think it ended up being around 155 calories per serving when I used Tyson Chicken Breast Tenderloins (4oz per serving for three servings). That is really about all the "gravy" you get out of one can of soup. To me it was well worth it.

Make sure you check out Campbell's at the following:

I received nothing in return for this review and post. This is my honest opinion.  Images and recipes from Campbell's Kitchen.
