Friday Night Alibi by Cassie Mae (Book Review) So Much More Than What I Thought It Would Be

Title: Friday Night Alibi
Author: Cassie Mae
Publish Date: July 29, 2013

Description

Rising star Cassie Mae introduces New Adult readers to a practical soon-to-be college freshman who seems to have everything—until a special guy shows her what she’s been missing.

In the wealthy town of Sundale, Kelli Pinkins has hatched the perfect plan to capitalize on her sweet reputation. For a generous fee, she will be every trust-fund baby’s dream: a Friday-night alibi, the “girlfriend” or “BFF” that parents dream about. With college approaching in the fall, Kelli’s services are in demand more than ever, which means that her social life is nonexistent. But Kelli is A-okay with that. She’s raking in cash for school. Besides, relationships are tricky, and sometimes very messy. She’d rather be at home on Xbox LIVE, anyway. Then the unexpected happens: She meets college stud Chase Maroney.

Chase isn’t like the preppy, privileged guys Kelli usually meets in Sundale. For starters, he’s twentysomething, always wears black, and he shoots back one-liners as fast as she can dish them out. But Kelli’s attempts to drive Chase away falter when she realizes that he treats her like he really knows her, like he cares about knowing her. When Kelli finally gives in to the delicious kiss she’s been fighting for so long, she faces a tough decision: make Chase a real-life boyfriend and risk her heart . . . or keep her clients and lose her first true love.

My thoughts

I have to start by saying this was not quite what I expected it to be, it was even better. I expected it to be about some woman who was out tramping around while her Husband was sitting home with their kids but it was nothing like that at all. Not even close.

The whole alibi thing with Kelli being "the alibi" wasn't so that her clients could be cheating on anyone else, it was so they could actually be with the person that the cared about but didn't care "enough" about to give up their snotty little rich kid trust funds. Which is how I see it.

Kelli is freshly out of high school but she is smart enough to know that she can earn money while she sits home alone on Friday nights on the computer. She has come up with a very in depth scheme to become an alibi for people who need to have a straight line girl friend to use as a front when the person they are really going out with would not be approved by their parents and one way or another their parents would pull their trust funds. This all sounds insane to me because I am so far from having that kind of money that I can't even wrap my head around that kind of concept but hey if their money buys them happiness then so be it. Which obviously it isn't or they wouldn't be needing an alibi, right?

Anyway, back to what I thought about this book. I thought it was a well written book. Had I had the time to sit and read it all at one time, I could have definitely done that. There was never a boring moment and I never found myself wanting to skip over any of the words just to get to the next part. There were definitely some trying times for Kelli and Chase both but I think they both handled it well. I do have to admit that me being the sap that I am I had a tear or two roll off my cheek towards the end of the book.

I hope that Cassie Mae writes a second book to follow this one so I can see what happens next with everyone, that is how much I enjoyed this one. I definitely give it 5 stars and think it is well worth the $2.99 that they have it priced at right now.

  5. Wow! This is different. I've definitely never heard of one like this before. You're right though, after reading one, this is the kind that needs to have another book to go along with it for sure.
