Book Review ~ A Christmas Gift for Rose byTricia Goyer

Title: A Christmas Gift for Rose
Author: Tricia Goyer
Publisher: Zondervan
Publish Date: September 24, 2013

Description

Award-winning author Tricia Goyer writes an uplifting novel of faith and family in her first Christmas novella. Born in the midst of the hardships of The Great Depression, Rose grew up in Berlin, Ohio, in the arms of a loving Amish family. But she is overwhelmed by self-doubt when she learns the truth of her birth. She was born Englisch and abandoned when her family moved West in search of work. Was she meant to be Amish or would she have been better off growing up with her own kind---Englischers? And was her intended's gift of discovering her birth family given out of love or fear? Inspired by a true story, A Christmas Gift for Rose is a heartwarming novella of sacrifice and deep love.

My thoughts

I have to say that I put off reading this book because it was a "Christmas" book but, had I known how great this book was I never would have done that.

I haven't read very many books by Tricia Goyer but I have to say that if this one is any indication of how how good her writing is, I will be picking up more of her work in the future. I had a hard time putting this down every time I picked it up which is a sign of a well written book. There are secrets to be learned and lives to be figured out. And for these reasons, I hope it has a second book because I want to know more about how the lives of Jonathan and Rose turned out.

I gave this book 5 stars for sure!
