Description

To protect her intellectual property from her scheming partner, software creator Annie Friesen must act quickly. Running from fast-paced Colorado Springs, she lands smack dab in the middle of San Luis Valley’s Amish community. Rufus Beiler is having some problems of his own—his business is in jeopardy, his sister has left the Amish community, and now he has a meddling Englisher on his hands. When Annie discovers she and Rufus share a common ancestor, she’s torn between two worlds. Is her love for Rufus strong enough to make the drastic shift from high-tech culture to old-world Amish?

My thoughts

This is the first book that I have read by Olivia Newton and I have to say that I completely enjoyed it. It is set in two different centuries and jumps back and forth between the present and the past. Learning about the ancestors of Rufus and Annie and how they came to America was very interesting and I enjoyed how the book jumped back and forth. Usually I don't enjoy that but there was such a major difference in time that you could not confuse the two.

Annie is definitely a city girl with a fast paced city girl lifestyle
when she meets Rufus, a slow paced Amish man. I think that she is a bit smitten with him and his lifestyle and envious of him and they way he handles life even though she never comes out and says that in the book.

I would definitely give this book a 5 star and I can't wait to read the second book in this series, In Plain View. I would love to see what happen between Rufus and Annie and also between Rufus's sister Ruth and her family that she left behind to go to college.
