Me selfish? You betcha! Updated

I have decided to be a little selfish and I am taking Thursday, Friday (Holiday), Saturday and Sunday off of work. I have a few parents upset with me but here is how I figure it: Live a day in my shoes then you can tell me how to live my life, until then SHUT-UP and deal with it.

And, what a better way to start my 4 days of in a row than to carry something down into the basement without using all the stairs. I guess I thought I would try something new, which actually is not new, and I can tell you that it is no fun. But hey, a few bruises and strawberries later, I am still alive and kicking.

It's a good thing I didn't break anything because I have a list of stuff to get done during my 4 days off. Here is what I must accomplish (in no particular order):

  1. Clean carpets in daycare room. completed 12-30
  2. Spend New Years Eve with the grandparents at their assisted living New Years Eve party. completed, I will have pics in a few days
  3. Finish out New Years Eve with the Hubby's family. completed
  4. Spend New Years Day at my parents house. completed
  5. Clean our bedroom.
  6. Wash all the throw rugs in the house. completed 12-30
  7. Give all 3 dogs a bath. Two down, one to go. 1-3
  8. Clean carpet in Livingroom. Hubby completed 1-3, Thanks!!
  9. Go grocery shopping.
  10. Put shrink to fit plastic on Livingroom window when tree is down. Completed 1-3
  11. Complain about Christmas tree until it is taken down by our DD. threatened to put it out with trash 12-30 Got mad and took it down myself! 1-3
  12. Sleep slept in on 12-30 completed
  13. Finish the book I am on so I can start Twilight.
  14. Relax
So, do you think I will get it all done, with bruises, soreness and all?

Wordless Wednesday: A bit too much sugar?

This is one of my daycare kiddos, "LS"

Your can see all my Wordless Wednesday here.

If you would like to see more Wordless Wednesday pictures you can visit 5 Minutes For Mom, MomDot, Jolly Mom and Life Down Our Lane and Go Graham Go.

Super Duper Wonderful Family News

Baby "Z" at 10 weeks and 5 days.

This is my cousin "JL" and her hubby's latest accomplishment. :) I call it an accomplishment because the doctors didn't think that she could get prego because when she was a child she had cancer and with all the chemo, they didn't think this miracle would ever happen.

Congrats "JLZ" and "JZ"

Where did my life go??

As I sit here with the little daycare kiddos napping and the big kiddos playing Super Nintendo I wonder what has happened to my life. Where did I lose it? I feel like I am living someone elses life. I really don't like where I am at all. I am stuck working way too many hours and not having enough time for myself. Tammy time is very important to me and I really don't have any of that anymore. I am tired of always having kiddos at my house. Not that I don't love them, because I do, I just wish it was back to like it should be with me only working from 6am to 6pm.

I know that you are all probably thinking whoopie, you have kids at your house, we have kids at our house all the time. I do know for a fact that that is what some people think. They say "How hard of a job could it really be?" It's not a physically demanding job, but it is a very emotional demanding and stressful job. And having to do it all the time, well it just sucks.

I have lost who I am and where I belong. I am so tired of kids and computers and cell phones. I am tired of having to do everything. I am tired of being in pain and just simply tired of being tired. I want the life I used to have back. I want the life where Hubby and I went to bed at the same time. The life where we watched TV together in the evenings, without the computers and text messages. The life where I enjoyed cooking and cleaning for my family. The life where Hubby and I had the time and money to have "date" nights. The life where Hubby and I spent time TOgether. The life where I had time to go visit my family. The life where I could lay on the couch in the evening and doze off. The life where I would get tons of hugs and kisses every day. The life where I could sleep-in in the morning or into the afternoon. The life where Hubby and I could lay in bed and talk about what happened during that particular day or what we were going to do on that particular day.

As I sit here and type this, I am sitting here crying. Why? Because I am tired and don't know which way to go. I am out of anti-depressant and I have become someone that I do not like very well. Oh, waa waa waa! That is exactly how I am feeling. I hate this! I just want to go to bed and sleep long enough that when I wake up my life will be back to normal. What a waa-ner I have become........wacky ward, I am getting closer. I can feel it.

Because of the way I feel, I have decided to cut down the time I spend on this computer and entering giveaways and blogging. Even though this is something that I do enjoy, it does take a lot of my time. It is time that I could be doing other things like cleaning or reading a good book. I would say it is time that I could be spending with Hubby but he is either on his laptop or somewhere doing some work for someone.

Grrr! Just called our County Job and Family Services to ask about getting the medical card because we were turned down for Health Insurance because we are too fat and.....of course "We can't help you if you make over the income guidelines." Okay, so I make too much money for the stinking medical card but I can't get health insurance because we are too fat. WTF?? Someone have any suggestions. Oh wait, if I loose my mind does that make me disabled? Does that make me able to get the medical card? So if I am a loser or crazy I can get the d*mn card. This country sucks!!

General Mills is doing something good.

General Mills announced a commitment to further reduce sugar in cereals advertised to kids under 12 to single digit grams of sugar per serving.

The company has already been reducing sugar in cereals while increasing key nutrients, such as calcium and vitamin D, and providing whole grain.

Did you know that ready-to-eat cereal eaters consume less fat, less cholesterol and more fiber than non-cereal eaters? Cereals also deliver important vitamins, minerals and other essential nutrients, making cereal a top source of key nutrients in children´s diets.

Other cereal benefits:
  • Ready-to-eat cereals, including presweetened cereals, account for only 5% of sugar in children´s diets.
  • Ready-to-eat cereal is the No. 1 source of whole grains in a child´s diet today.
  • More frequent cereal eaters tend to have healthier body weights and lower Body Mass Index measures.
Studies also demonstrate the benefits of eating breakfast. A 1998 study showed that children who eat breakfast tend to perform better at school. Compared to children who skip breakfast, children who eat breakfast score higher on tests, are less likely to miss class or be tardy, have fewer reported discipline problems, and make fewer trips to the office.

Frequent cereal eaters tend to have healthier body weights – and that includes people who choose presweetened cereals. It's true of men. It's true of women. And it's true of kids.

For more information about kids and cereals, please visit Cereal Health and Wellness.

Right now if you visit here you will find a $1 off coupon for one of four General Mills cereals.

I am a partcipant in MyBlogSpark. I received the four VIP coupons, information, and online coupon link have all been provided by General Mills through MyBlogSpark.

Woot, I received an Award :D

I just received an award! I love awards! They make me smile, which sometimes does not happen often, but Deborah has a way of making me smile. Deborah is the author of 3 blogs, What Matters Most Is Kindness, Amazing Animal Lovers Blog and Paws and Pray. Over on her What Matters Most Is Kindness blog, she left this wonderful award for me. I wouldn't say I am an Angel, but I will gladly accept this award. Thank You Deborah for your kindness and this award!

Here are the rules to this award, they are fairly easy to follow:

  1. Thank the person who gave it to them! check
  2. Link it back to me! check
  3. Give the award to five people, although I think you are all Angels!! check
  4. Please let the friends know they have an award! and check

Now, I am to choose 5 of you whom I think are deserving Angels.....hum.....only 5? Okay, here they are (drum roll please)

  1. Tricia over at Night Owl Mama ~ No matter what, she is always there.
  2. Reen over at Aunt Rene (who really is my SIL) ~ She would give you the shirt off her back if you needed it.
  3. Alexis over at Running Away...I'll Help You Pack ~ No matter how busy she is, she always visits and leaves wonderful comments.

If you would like to go ahead and take this award and give it to anyone that you feel is deserving, go right on ahead and just do that. I am sure that you will make my day, just like Deborah made mine.

Question of the Week: Resolution?

Oh, what's one more weekly meme? Amanda over at Multiples.....and More has started Question of the week. And I have decided that I would try to do this one, it sounds pretty simple, because one question is much easier than 20. lol

This weeks question is:

What are your New Years Resolutions?

Here are mine:
  • Get more active
  • Eat better
  • Loose some weight
  • Spend more time with family
  • Work Less
  • Definitely spend more quality time with my Hubby.
I am going to have to put these some where on my sidebar so that I remember to do it. I am so tired of overworking and being fat and not having any fun. Besides, maybe if I lose weight, I can get health insurance.

Sunday Stealing: Goodbye 2009

Today we ripped this meme
a blogger named Nik Dirga at the blog Spatula Forum. Nik is an American journalist who now lives in New Zealand with his kiwi wife and son. He does not say where he found the meme. But, it was probably stolen there as well. So, of course, that will be as far as we go. Tracing back our theft's thieves might take some time. Link back to us at Sunday Stealing!

1. What did you do in 2009 that you'd never done before? Had a mammogram:(

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year? I can't remember my resolutions from last January. Heck, I can't remember last week. I am sure I will make one, but I am also sure I will forget it quickly.

7. What date from 2009 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? Not sure, it all went by too fast.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? Not ending up in the wacky ward.

9. What was your biggest failure? Forgetting who I am and getting caught up in too much working.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury? I broke my foot and had bronchitis.

11. What was the best thing you bought? Obviously nothing great, because I can't remember.

12. Where did most of your money go? Bills, bills and more bills.

13. What song will always remind you of 2009? Crazy

17. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year? Hate is a very strong word, so I will have to say "No"

18. What was the best book you read? OMG, anything by Wanda Brunstetter.

19. What was your greatest musical discovery? Do NOT let the daycare kiddos have a recorder and toy drum in the house, those are outside toys. lol

20. What was your favorite film of this year? Not much of a movie watcher, don't have time.

21. What did you do on your birthday? Worked of course.

Lexi update ~ Dec 24th

This was the update that Jen put on Lexi's Caring Bridge Journal today. I am so praying that she makes it home for Christmas.

Thursday, December 24, 2009 5:49 PM, EST

Hello Everyone! Alexis is still in the hospital, however we are hoping to bring her home tonight. The doctors and nurses are doing everything in their power to arrange for Alexis to come home. In order for her to be able to come home she will need to be on fluids for 24 hours a day. This last round of chemo has caused Alexis to have mouthsores in her throat. The mouthsores are worse this round and has required her to have a lot of morphine to control the pain. Alexis so badly wants to eat, but after 4-5 bites the food stings her throat and she is in a lot of pain. The good thing though, is that she has not vomitted since this weekend. The doctor came in and said that we should be able to leave any minute, she just wants to make sure that she tolerates the Ativan well since she was complaing on her belly hurting. he has not really been complaining of this much though.

Like I said, in order for ALexis to come home the doctors said we would need training in using connecting IV fluids to her broviac. At noon today, when we realized that the home health care company in our area could not provide services, Aaron ans I rushed to get ready and be at the hospital by 2pm so I could be trained. Scot just did not feel comfortable with his eyesight to be trained. When Aaron and I arrived to the hospital, Scot and I switched and Aaron and Scot went home to finish getting ready for Christmas.

Alexis has been in the hospital for 3 nights. Grandpa Howard stayed two nights and 3 days and daddy stayed one night. It was very hard for me not to stay at the hospital, however it allowed me to get all of my presents wrapped and my house cleaned for Christmas. Somehow, I managed to still see Alexis for at least 2 hours each day. Again, we are so lucky to have such a supportive family that will do anything for us. While Bill stayed with Alexis, Aaron stayed with Elaine for 2 nights.

On Saturday, we have to be back to the hospital at 8am to be evaluated on whether ALexis will continue to need fluids at home. Then, on Monday we have to readmit ALexis to have TPN (nutrition though a tube). They are doing this to put some weight on Alexis so she is ready for her transplant. The transplant is scheduled for the third or fourth week of January. In the middle of January she will be going to the hospital during the day for four days in a row for a complete BMT workup. I think there are 11 tests/exams that she will need during these days.

I want to thank everyone who has sent or brought over gifts in the past week. It is very thoughtful of everyone. Make a wish even sent a gift. Alexis has been spoiled at the hospital as well. Each day she has received a different gift. Then tonight Santa came and delivered a wrapped gift. Alexis was sleeping and was upset when I woke her up, so she told Santa she did not want her picture taken with him. I thought she would want me to wake her, but I guess i was wrong. well we are leaving.

I hope everyone has a terrific Christmas.

Take Care,

Lexi update X2

For those of you who have been following Lexi, here is the last two updates:

Thursday, December 17, 2009 4:54 PM, EST

Hello! I want to let everyone know that we were able to bring Alexis home on Tuesday late afternoon. That evening, I went to the grocery store for the special "low fat high calorie diet". That was quite an interesting trip. Bascially, Alexis will be eating lots and lots of sugar for a while! Alexis is feeling better each day and has been eating. However, she is still having nausea and vomits once or twice each day. This has made it tough to put some pounds on her! Today, when Scot and Aaron took Alexis to her physical and lab appointment
, she had lost .5 lbs. That does not seem like a lot but when you weigh 34 lbs it is. Our nurse practitioner Faye was very concerned. She said that Alexis can not lose anyone weight. If she does then she will have to be admitted to the hospital for a week to have TPN (Complete nutrition through a tube). We have until Monday to increase her wieght and hopefully we can. If she does have to be put on TPN, I worry about whether her body will tolerate TPN better than the tube feedings. That obviously did not go well. The mouth sores from this round of chemo will probably start this weekend, so hopefully the special mouthwash will help her be able to eat.

Today we received some gifts from Alexis's school that said they were from Santa's elves. Alexis said to me "do you think these really are from Santa's elves? Then she asked her dad something similar. She was so excited at the thought of this. It truly made her day. Thank you so much Santa's Elves!

Well I need to get some things done. Take care.

Tuesday, December 22, 2009 7:46 AM, EST

Hi. I just want to give everyone a quick update. The past several weeks have definitely been our most challenging.
On Friday when Alexis went in for her clinic appointment, the nurse practitioner was very concerned about her weight. Alexis had still not went back to eating normally and this was the longest it has taken after chemo. The nurse stated that if she loss anymore weight they may have to admit her! So our goal was to put as many pounds on over the weekend as possible. Unfortunantly, that backfired. Alexis was worse Saturday and Sunday then she was the rest of the week. She laid on the couch, slept most of the time and vomited everytime we gave her the octreotide.

On Monday, like we had expected, Alexis lost another half a pound of so. After much debate between surgery and oncology, they decided to take her off the low fat diet with the exception of eating fast food and keep her on Octrotide. They also increased the Zofran again. We thought we were good as gold with being able to leave until she spiked a fever. At that point, they decided to admit her and at that point I was actually releived. In the state that she has been in I didn't really know if I felt comfortable taking her home despite the fact it would be much easier having her home this particular week. I myself are prepared for whatever happens! We will just have to wait and see. There is a chance they will let us go home for Christmas day. right now she is not on TPN but she is having the mouthsores.

Well I have to go. Take Care.

Please send prayers to Lexi and her family.

If you click on the label "L" at the bottom of this post it will take you to all the posts about her.

My Secret Santa :)

It’s A Wonderful Life

I participated in an Ornament Swap over at It's A Wonderful Life and my secret Santa ended up being the Domestic Debacle.

And here is what she got me:

It has Cherry Cocoa, Mint Cocoa and Chocolate Cocoa mix, and by the way, they are all very yummy. I had to go buy some canned whipped cream to top it off with.

And, this totally awesome mug (that was filled with goodies but I ate it). I love Cocoa and I love this mug. I use it everyday, and the daycare kiddos love it.

I should have taken pictures of me opening it up but I didn't, and I couldn't even fake it because after I opened it up, I still didn't know who it was from, for what or anything. I just figured it was something that I had won somewhere in bloggy land and forgot about. I am pretty absent minded like that sometime.

Then a week or so later, I get this DM on twitter:

  1. Domestic Debacle DomesticDebacle @lovemy2doggies Hello! I am your secret Santa, I forgot to include the card oops!
After I got this tweet, I felt like such an idiot because I should have known what it was for and took some pictures. Silly me, where else would it have came from? lol I had to visit Webster Merriam to find out what debacle meant and after I did that and I understood why I didn't get the card in the package with the gifts. haha

So I must say a big "Thank You" to the Domestic Debacle for my gift, it was all very yummy.

Sorry it has taken me so long to post this, my USB cord for my camera is pretty important to not misplace. lol

My Bitch and Moan ~ Dec 18th

Fairy Blog Mother

Okay, it's the weekly Bitch and Moan section, brought to you by Annette over at Fairy Blog Mother. It's all her fault that I am bitching and moaning. No, not really but she does give me the excuse to get it off my chest, which is the second reason why I started this blog.

My biggest bitch this week is the fact that we got turned down for health insurance because we are overweight. Not because we are sickly but because we are overweight. WTF?? I am so angry about this that I could scream and pull all my hair out but then the daycare kiddos would think "Ah, who made her mad this time?"

Another things that's been brewing in me is this whole Christmas thing. Why? Why can't we just spend time together with family and friends and be thankful for what we have? I know, that is Thanksgiving. Christmas is so commericalized that is makes me sick. Everything is about the all mighty dollar, which I do not have. There was a time when I could get the gifts that I HAVE to buy then I could get the gifts for the people that I WANT to buy for. Not this year and I am hating it all the more. There are people out there that I would love to be able to give a gift to and I can't freaking afford it. This I must say is totally asinine (yep, I had to visit Merriam Webster to learn how to spell that). This year is totally going to suck and I am not even sure why I am even trying to pretend to enjoy it.

I have one daycare parent that has totally pissed me off. She owes me money, and I don't mean $50. I think she has just lost it. She stopped picking her kid up when she was supposed to and now she is not paying me the money she owes me. Now, she "says" that her kid is at their dad's. We will see? I am sure that she is upset with me because the day that she was 3 hours late picking up her kid, I texted her and asked her "Are you freaking walking to my house?"

That brings me to my next bitch. Why is it okay for some people to lose their freaking minds but it is not okay for me to do it. Why do I have to be the responsible one? Why do I have to do the responsible adult things? Why can't I just do what ever I feel like? Why me? What did I do to deserve to have to be only one who can't just say screw it, I am going to do what ever I want to do and when I want to do it? Why? Why? Why? Sometimes I really hate being an adult. Oh, to be a kid again!

There are other things I need to get off my chest but just can't do it here. Why? Because everything I say here goes to my facebook and I don't know how to get it off there. Grrr!

Calgon take me away!!

Need For Speed Nitro for Wii ~Review

I was asked to if I wanted to do a review for Need For Speed Nitro and at first I thought, "Do I really want to do this one, or not?" Then after giving it some thought, I decided that I would do it. I had heard some really harsh comments about Need For Speed and was leary about it but I am glad that I decided to do it. First off I need to start by saying that it is not what I thought it would be at all, but I am definitely glad I decided to review it. In order to write the review I received a review copy to keep for myself.

I loved that at the beginning of the game, it has a warning that says that street racing is illegal. lol

So, here is a little bit about the game (from the company):

Need for Speed Nitro will have players of all skill levels hooked from the moment they get into the action, while arcade racing fans will be exhilarated by the deep and challenging gameplay. Gamers can build up their boost as they drift and drag behind their opponents and use it strategically to change the course of the race, but watch out for the cops! Offering a fresh and unique visual style, the game features a variety of licensed cars which can be fully customized to let the game reflect the player’s taste and personality.

Own Your World at 200MPH!

Customize your car, take corners at 200 mph, and own your opponents. Need for Speed NITRO delivers the fun and exhilaration of high-speed racing with deep and challenging gameplay, where racing skills are not the only way to victory.

Master advanced techniques such as building up boost by taking risks on the road, then use it at the right moment to take the lead. But don’t forget about the cops, who will do everything they can to disrupt the race. And for the ultimate bragging rights, impose your graphical style on the world when you lead.

However you choose to race, never count on victory until you’ve crossed the finish line.

As I am sitting here writing this review, my daughter is playing this game and loving it. So it is definitely for both boys and girls. She has her a hot pink rocking Renault 4L car, with black stars all over it. She is all about the pink things. She is also complaining that it would be much easier if the cops would quit trying to wreck her. lol

As you play and win, you get more options for your cars. You get more cars to choose from, different paint brushes so you can create different designs. She is just excited that she is getting to drive a Chevy Corvette. lol Who would have thought that she is 20.

Her thoughts on the game are that it's a great game but it's kind of hard, but do we get to keep it? Yes, we get to keep it and the rest was my thoughts exactly. That is definitely not a bad thing though, who wants to play an easy game that there is no challenge to. I think we may have to move the Wii out of the living room now, so someone else can watch TV while she is playing this game. lol

Need for Speed: Nitro

You can purchase
Need For Speed Nitro at:

EA Games for $49.95 for $39.99 for $40.00

We applied for health insurance online and we found out today that we were turned down. Why? Because of our weight! You just don't realize how pissed off over this that I am. Does this mean I can qualify for the medical card? NOT!! I guess we just bend over and take it!

Sorry if I have offended anyone but I am seriously pissed!

I am self-employed and Hubby is laid off so we tried to get it on our own. HaHa!!

Audio Book Challenge 2010 Can I do it?

While I was over visiting At Home With Books, I came across a post where Alyce is joining this Audio Book Challenge, and I thought why don't I do that. I love to listen to audio books when I go to bed, when I am waiting at the bus stop for the kids and when I am just driving around.

This challenge was previously hosted by J. Kaye's Book Blog and is now being held over at Royal Reviews this year. I have no idea how many audio books that I would listen to in a year because I just started listening to them regularly this past summer and now I am addicted. I guess this is the best way to find out how many I listen to.

This challenge is open to anyone and everyone and it is open to those who only listen to a couple books per year to those who listen to lots more than that. Here are the four levels:

-- Curious – Listen to 3 Audio Books.

-- Fascinated – Listen to 6 Audio Books.

-- Addicted – Listen to 12 Audio Books.

-- Obsessed – Listen to 20 Audio Books.

I am going for the addicted Obsessed level. Do you think I can do it? I hope I can. Make sure you hop over and visit At Home With Books and definitely visit Royal Reviews and sign up for this challenge, I did. It starts January 1, 2010.

Wordless Wednesday

This is one of my weekend daycare kiddos. This is little man "BD" he just turned 1 in October.

Your can see all my Wordless Wednesday here.

If you would like to see more Wordless Wednesday pictures you can visit 5 Minutes For Mom, MomDot, Jolly Mom and Life Down Our Lane and Go Graham Go.

What the Hell Wednesday: In the Dark

This weeks WTH is brought to you by no electricity, trying to stay warm and the stupid AEP people who took 3 days to turn on the lights and the color pitch black.

If you had no power for 3 days what is one thing you would enjoy? Snuggling close to hubby to keep warm and playing dominoes.

Could you and/or your family survive 3 days or would shit hit the fan?
If we didn't freeze to death we could survive just fine.

Finish this sentence: When the lights go out…
the mice will play!

Do you usually know what’s going on or are you usually left in the dark? Definitely left in the dark, which here lately is just fine with me.

Are you on the darkside?
Nope, it's pretty light in here.

Are you an internet junkie or could you survive a week without it?
I could survive if I didn't have any entries into any giveaways that ended during that time.

When you were a kid was scared you in the dark?
Yea buddy!

Dark chocolate or milk chocolate? Dark chocolate!
I am starting to acquire the taste for chocolate.

Do you like blonde hair and blue eye or dark hair and dark eyes?
Dark hair and dark eyes!

Tell me something dark and evil you have done lately.
Me to know, you to find out!

What is your favorite story you have heard around the campfire.
The story of Jooohhnnnyyyy, he's coming up the stairs.

If you were left in the dark could you find a constellation or the north star?
Is the big dipper a constellation? If so, then yep!

Do you like white meat or dark meat?
Dark for sure.

If you want, you can visit other bloggers answers and play along over at What the Hell Wednesday.
